Relationship Astrology: The Complete Guide to Love, Breakups and Reconciliation in the Birth Chart

A relationship in the birth chart is read in three questions, and everything else is detail. What draws you: the fifth house and its lord for the romance, the seventh and its lord for the bond, Venus for the way you love, Mars for the way you want, the Moon for what you need in order to feel safe, and the nodes for the pull toward the unfamiliar and the familiar. Whether this holds: the fifth joined to the seventh, or not; the seventh lord’s dignity; the twelfth, eighth and sixth on the relationship houses, which are the ways relationships end; and, with the other person’s chart, the two seventh lords and the overlays between them. And when it changes: the dasha, whose sub-periods carry relationships and whose others end them, and the transits of Jupiter, Saturn and the nodes, which give the year and the test inside the period. This guide is the map of the thirty articles that read those three questions for the relationship before and outside marriage, and for the crisis in it: the ex who may return, the breakup that did or did not end things, the one-sided love, the person who will not commit, the family that objects, the relationship that harms, the season after an ending, and how a reading of any of them is done.

The doctrine is kept in every article and stated once here. A relationship is read as tendency and season, never as a verdict, and every timing is a window with a date and not a promise. The other person is read only from their own chart, with their knowledge, or from a horary; never from the native’s. Where a relationship has harmed, safety comes before the chart. No page here sells a remedy, times a return into a house it has read as dangerous, or reads a partner’s chart as a verdict on conduct. The clusters that read the marriage itself, its promise and timing, its discord and divorce, and the second marriage, stand beside this one and are linked where they meet: the marriage astrology guide, marriage timing by dasha and transits, the troubled marriage guide, and the spouse prediction guide.

Conventions used across the cluster. Parashari astrology, whole-sign houses, Lahiri ayanamsa, Vimshottari dasha, with the Navamsa as the divisional layer for the bond and KP methods where the site’s KP pages are cited; the fifth as romance, the seventh as the bond, the eleventh as fulfilment, the twelfth, eighth and sixth as the endings; the dasha as the season and the transit as the year inside it. Every article carries a worked chart with altered particulars, a table, and a method box like this one. Nothing in the cluster is a remedy.

Thirty articles map the questions; one consultation reads your chart for the answer, with a season and a date.

A relationship consultation reads your fifth and seventh, your Venus, Mars and Moon, the sub-periods that carry relationships in your chart and the ones that end them, and, where you have the other person's details, their chart read on its own terms and the two laid together; you receive a written brief ahead of the call, then the call, with the answer as yes, no or not yet and its season.

The three questions, and the order they are asked in

The order matters more than the questions, because most wrong readings ask them backward. The first question, what draws you, is the description, and it is read from the fifth and seventh houses, their lords, Venus, Mars, the Moon and the nodes; it does not change with the year, and a native who reads only this has a portrait and not a forecast. The second, whether this holds, is the structure: the fifth and seventh joined or separate, the seventh lord dignified or afflicted, the endings’ houses touching the relationship houses or not, and, with two charts, the bond overlays between them; it is the question of what the relationship is in the chart’s terms, a romance, a bond, or a relationship living in the twelfth, and it decides which of the three answers a timing question can have. The third, when it changes, is the dasha and the transits, and it is asked last because a period read without the structure produces the two commonest errors in the subject, a return promised from Jupiter’s transit alone and a marriage promised from Venus’s period alone. Every article in this cluster asks the three in that order, and the ones that answer a single urgent question, will my ex come back, will he leave his wife, does he love me, ask them fastest, since the urgent questions are the ones where the order saves the most. The general reading of the fifth and seventh, the houses themselves, is on the site’s house pages, the fifth house and the seventh house; this cluster reads them together and in crisis.

The crisis: the ex, the breakup, the one-sided love, the harm, the season after

The pages most people arrive at are the crisis pages, and they are the cluster’s spine. Will My Ex Come Back? reads the question in the three answers the chart actually holds, yes with a season, no with a date, and not yet with the later door named, from the sub-periods the relationship began and ended in, from whether the seventh and fifth are open or the twelfth and eighth are closing them, and from a horary when the other person’s details are absent. Breakups in the Chart reads why a relationship ended in the chart’s terms, the twelfth lord’s departure, the eighth lord’s crisis, the sixth lord’s quarrel, Ketu’s fade, the junction between periods, and gives the three checks that say whether an ending holds. One-Sided Love in the Chart reads the fifth without the seventh, the native who loves where the bond is not, and the season in which the feeling lifts. The Relationship That Harms is the one page that begins before the chart, with the safety line, and then reads heat against harm in the seventh, the signatures of vulnerability as seasons, the exit seasons, and what a reading refuses to do. And Moving On After a Breakup reads the season after an ending as a length from the sub-period, three phases named by the houses, what helps this chart by which houses are strong, the pull back with its dates, and the grief that is beyond the chart and for a counsellor.

Love marriage and the other person: the join, the double window, the feelings, the family, the commitment

The relationship that may become a marriage has its own five pages. Love Marriage in the Chart reads the fifth-seventh connection, the join in its four forms, and the denials, which are the sixth, eighth and twelfth on either house or the two lords in enemy signs. Will I Marry the Person I Love? is the double-window test: a marriage between two people needs a carrier’s sub-period in both charts at once, with Jupiter’s transit in at least one, and the page reads it with one chart, with two, and with a horary. Does He Love Me? draws the line the whole cluster keeps, that another person’s feelings are read only from their own chart or a horary and never from the native’s, and then reads what can be read: the other person’s capacity, their season, and whether the native matches the spouse their chart describes. Family Opposition to Love Marriage reads the fourth and ninth against the fifth and seventh, the objection’s shape by which parent’s house holds which planet, and whether it delays or denies, which is almost always delays. And Commitment Phobia in the Chart reads the partner who will not commit from their own chart, Rahu on the seventh, Saturn’s delay, the seventh lord in the twelfth, and the native who cannot yet from theirs, with the season in which each becomes able, so that the two are not confused.

The shapes a relationship takes: distance, secrecy, the married person, the age gap, the axis, after divorce

Six pages read the shapes a relationship takes outside the plain case. Long-Distance Relationships in the Chart reads the twelfth and ninth, the relationship across a distance, and whether the distance closes, by the seventh lord’s and the fourth’s seasons. Secret Relationships in the Chart reads the twelfth and eighth as the houses of the hidden bond, why a relationship is kept hidden, and whether it comes into the open, and when. Relationships With a Married Person reads the single partner’s own chart with dignity, the pattern that draws them to the unavailable, the house the relationship lives in, the marriage window of their own that may be passing while they wait, and what the other person’s chart can and cannot say. Age-Gap Relationships in the Chart reads the planet behind the gap and what the gap is made of, Saturn’s structure, Jupiter’s standing, Mercury’s youth, and the seasons in which a gap becomes a subject. Karmic Relationships and the Nodes gives the word its precise meaning, the Rahu-Ketu axis across a pair of houses, the nodal return, and nodal synastry, and says what the word does not mean. And New Love After Divorce separates the three things the question runs together, the aftermath, the rebound and the second beginning, which is read from the second house, the family rebuilt, and dated.

The beginning: the native who has never been in one, and when it comes

Two pages read the relationship that has not yet happened. No Love Life? reads the native who has never been in a relationship, and distinguishes the four charts that look alike from inside: the one whose carrier sub-period has not come yet, the one whose seventh lord is delayed by Saturn, the one whose fifth is quiet by Ketu or the twelfth, and the one who does not want the bond and is not lacking it, which the page reads as a description of a life and not a deficit. When Will I Find Love? is the timing page for the beginning, and it gives the method the cluster’s later pages use: the carrier, which is the sub-period of the fifth lord, the seventh lord, Venus or the eleventh lord; the year inside it, which is Jupiter’s transit over the first, third, fifth, seventh, ninth or eleventh from the lagna or the Moon; and the month, which is Venus’s transit; with the rule, stated there and kept everywhere, that a transit without a carrier is a year of offers the native cannot take, and a carrier without a transit is a season of readiness with no date in it.

The six planets of love

Six planet pages read each planet for relationships alone, by lordship first, sign and house second, and nature third, which is the order the dasha page makes exact. Venus and Relationships reads what a native needs from love, Venus’s sign as the way of loving and Venus’s house as where love is found, with the rule that Venus is the way of loving for everyone and the spouse significator only in a man’s chart. Mars and Relationships reads desire, conflict and the partner who is a match, and draws the line between heat, which is a quality, and harm, which the harm page reads. The Moon in Relationships reads what a native needs in order to feel safe and what their partner needs, by the Moon’s sign, and the Moon chart as the second reading of every period. Rahu and Relationships reads the obsession, the outsider and the bond that consumes, with the four tests that say whether a Rahu relationship becomes a marriage or reverses. Saturn and Relationships reads delay, the test and the bond that lasts, with Sade Sati as the relationship’s review. And Ketu and Relationships reads detachment, the sudden end, the bond that asks nothing, and the sense of the already known that the karmic page takes up.

The technical layer: the geometry, synastry, the dasha, the transits

Four pages carry the technical layer the others rest on. The 5th and 7th Houses Together reads the geometry between romance and the bond: the two houses, their lords in each other’s houses, the eleventh as the romance’s own partner and the bond’s own romance, and the four forms of the join. Synastry in Vedic Astrology lays two charts together in the way that is not Gun Milan, the two seventh lords, the two Moons, Venus to Mars, Saturn on the other’s Venus, the nodal overlays, and says which overlays are a bond and which are an attraction. Which Dasha Gives Love? reads all nine periods by the rule of lordship first, so that Jupiter’s dasha marries a Gemini and sends a Sagittarius abroad, with a table of which ascendants each period carries the bond and the romance for, the four periods that break relationships, the junctions, and the sub-period pairs that make and unmake bonds. And Relationship Transits reads Jupiter’s twelve-year cycle house by house, the six years it touches the relationship houses, Saturn’s tests, the nodes’ eighteen months, Venus and Mars for the month, the eclipses and Mercury retrograde, and the method for building a five-year relationship calendar from the ephemeris. The dasha in general is on the mahadasha index and the transits in general in the gochara guide; these four pages read them for love alone.

How a reading is done, and without a birth time

Two pages describe the reading itself. How a Reconciliation Reading Works sets out the eight steps in the order that runs the cheapest and most decisive checks first: the birth time tested against dated events, the relationship located in the dasha by the sub-periods that opened and closed it, the seventh and fifth read against the twelfth and eighth, the partner compared to the spouse the chart describes, the other person’s chart with the two dasha tables laid together or, without it, a horary, the safety question, and the answer in whichever of its three forms the chart gives; it says what the native must send, which is the relationship’s timeline as much as the birth details, what the reading will not do, and what comes back. Relationship Questions Without a Birth Time gives the three routes that are honest when the time is missing: the day chart, reading the planets by sign and most of the synastry; a horary cast for the question itself, which settles one question and gives it a timing; and rectification, which recovers the time from events and returns the whole natal reading. The consultation that does any of this is on the consultation page, and the site’s position on prediction and choice, which every page here rests on, is in fate against free will.

How this cluster stands beside the marriage pages

This cluster reads the relationship before and outside marriage, and the crisis in it; the marriage itself is read by three clusters that were built earlier and that this one links into rather than repeats. The promise and timing of marriage, whether it is in the chart and when, is the marriage cluster’s, beginning with the marriage astrology guide and the timing page, and its spouse description is the spouse prediction guide, which this cluster’s pages cite whenever they compare a partner to the spouse the chart describes. The trouble inside a marriage, the discord, the separation and the divorce, is the troubled-marriage cluster’s, beginning with the troubled marriage guide; where this cluster’s pages meet a marriage, the page on the married person, the page on new love after divorce, they hand the marriage’s own reading to those pages. And the second marriage, its house and whether it is better, is the marriage cluster’s again, in second marriage timing. The KP method’s own relationship pages, the 2-7-11 formula, the 6-10-12 denial, the relationship horary and cuspal matching, are cited from the technical pages here and stand on their own in the KP cluster. A reader who wants the whole of the site’s reading of a life’s partnerships reads this cluster first, for the relationship, and the marriage clusters second, for the institution.

Reading your own chart for love in an hour

With the chart open, from the kundali calculator or any software, the three questions can be asked in an hour in this order. First, the description, twenty minutes: find the fifth and seventh houses and their lords, note each lord’s house, sign and dignity; find Venus’s sign and house, Mars’s, the Moon’s, and the nodes’ axis; and read the planet pages for whichever of the six is strongest or most afflicted, since that one colours the rest. Second, the structure, twenty minutes: ask whether the fifth and seventh are joined, by the geometry page’s four forms; ask whether the twelfth, eighth or sixth lords touch either house, which are the endings; if there is a second chart, lay the two seventh lords and the two Moons together by the synastry page; and decide, from this, whether the relationship in question is a romance, a bond, or a relationship living in the twelfth, since that decides what any timing can say. Third, the season, twenty minutes: from the dasha table, mark the sub-periods of the fifth lord, the seventh lord, Venus and the eleventh lord for the next fifteen years as the carriers, and the twelfth, eighth and sixth lords’ and Ketu’s as the endings, by the dasha page’s table; place the current relationship’s beginning and, if there is one, its ending on the table; and mark Jupiter’s years over the relationship houses by the transits page. The hour gives a native the shape of their relationship chart and the seasons ahead; what it does not give is the Moon-chart check, the Navamsa, the dignity of each carrier, and the reading of two charts against each other, which are the consultation’s, and which the reconciliation page describes step by step.

Frequently asked questions

How are relationships read in the birth chart?

In three questions asked in order: what draws you, from the fifth and seventh houses and their lords, Venus, Mars, the Moon and the nodes; whether this holds, from the fifth joined to the seventh, the seventh lord’s dignity, the twelfth, eighth and sixth on the relationship houses, and the two charts laid together; and when it changes, from the dasha sub-periods that carry relationships and the transits of Jupiter, Saturn and the nodes that give the year and the test inside the period. Asked backward, the reading produces a return promised from a transit alone or a marriage from Venus’s period alone.

Which house is for love and which for relationships?

The fifth is the romance, the feeling and the affair, and the seventh is the bond, the partnership and the marriage; the eleventh is the fulfilment, the romance’s own partner and the bond’s own romance; and the twelfth, eighth and sixth are the ways relationships end, by departure, crisis and quarrel. A relationship that lives in the fifth alone is a romance, one that joins the fifth to the seventh can become the marriage, and one that lives in the twelfth or eighth is hidden or in crisis, and the reading says which before it times anything.

Which planet is responsible for love and relationships?

Six, each read for love on its own page: Venus for the way you love and what you need from it, Mars for desire and the partner who is a match, the Moon for what you need in order to feel safe, Rahu for the obsession and the outsider, Saturn for delay and the bond that lasts, and Ketu for detachment and the bond that asks nothing. Each is read by what it rules for your ascendant first, its sign and house second, and its nature third, which is why Venus’s period is romance for one chart and the sixth house for another.

Can astrology tell if my ex will come back?

It can tell whether a return is supported and in what season, and the chart holds three answers to that: yes, with a season, where the sub-period that carried the relationship is still running or the next carrier is close and the seventh and fifth are open; no, with a date, where the carrying sub-period has ended and the one running now belongs to a twelfth, eighth or sixth lord or to Ketu; and not yet, with the later door named. The other person’s side comes only from their own chart or a horary, and a return needs both doors open together.

Which dasha gives love or marriage?

The sub-period of the planet that rules the seventh house for your ascendant carries the bond, the fifth lord’s carries the romance, Venus’s and the eleventh lord’s carry both by nature, and the twelfth, eighth and sixth lords’ and Ketu’s end them; the same planet is a carrier for one ascendant and a breaker for another, which is why the dasha page gives a table by ascendant. Inside the carrier’s sub-period, Jupiter’s transit over the relationship houses gives the year and Venus’s transit the month.

Can a relationship be read without my birth time?

Yes, in three ways that do not pretend to more than they have. A day chart, the planets by sign for the date, gives the way you love and most of the synastry. A horary, cast at the moment of a sincere question or from a number you give between 1 and 249, settles a single question, whether you will be together or whether they will return, and dates it. Rectification recovers the birth time from your dated events and returns the full reading. A complete natal reading on a guessed hour is the one thing this site will not offer.

What does a relationship consultation give?

A written brief ahead of the call, then the call: your birth time tested against your dated events, the relationship located in your dasha by the sub-periods that opened and closed it, the seventh and fifth read by sub-period and transit, the partner set against the spouse your chart describes, the other person’s chart read on its own terms and the two dasha tables laid together where you have their details, a horary where you do not, the safety question asked, and the answer as yes, no or not yet, with its season and its reasons. No remedy is sold and no return is promised.
