A relationship begins when three layers of the chart meet, and the reading of “when will I find love” is the reading of those three, in order. The carrier is a planet that can bring a relationship at all: the fifth lord, the seventh lord, Venus, a planet sitting in the fifth or seventh, and the eleventh lord for the meeting that comes through friends. The carrier’s sub-period is the season, one to three years in which that planet acts, found on the dasha table; a chart with no carrier’s sub-period in the next few years has its answer there, and a chart with two has a choice of seasons. The trigger is the transit that turns the season into a date: Jupiter over the fifth, the seventh or the eleventh, or over natal Venus, as the year, and Venus’s own transit over the fifth or seventh as the month. Underneath the question of when sits the question of where, and the carrier’s house answers it, since a carrier in the tenth meets at work and one in the ninth on a journey, and this page gives all twelve. It also gives the length, since the sub-period’s length is the relationship’s first season, the false windows that Rahu makes, and a twenty-minute method for finding one’s own next window.
It belongs to the complete relationship astrology guide. Why there has been no relationship yet is the previous page, No Love Life?; which dasha gives love across a whole life, period by period, is the technical page, Which Dasha Gives Love?; and the timing of marriage rather than of a relationship’s beginning belongs to the marriage cluster, in Marriage Timing by Dasha and Transits.
Conventions used. Parashari astrology, whole-sign houses, Lahiri ayanamsa, Vimshottari dasha; the fifth house as romance, the seventh as the bond, the eleventh as the fulfilment and the friends, Venus as the significator; Jupiter’s transit by sign over the natal houses as the year and Venus’s as the month, both read from the lagna and checked from the Moon. A window is a season of months, never a date; the chart times the beginning of a relationship and says nothing about who the person is beyond the house they are met in. Nothing here is a remedy to hasten a meeting.

Your next window, by season, and the house you will meet them in.
A relationship consultation finds the carriers in your chart, marks their sub-periods on your dasha table, lays Jupiter's and Venus's transits over them, and gives you the next window in which a relationship begins as a season of months, with the house the meeting happens in and how long the sub-period carries it.

The three layers: carrier, sub-period, trigger
Every event in the chart needs a promise, a period and a trigger, and the beginning of a relationship is no exception, though it is timed more loosely than a marriage because it is a smaller event with more carriers. The promise is the capacity, the fifth and seventh houses able to produce a romance or a bond, which almost every chart has in some form and which the previous page reads for the charts that seem not to. The period is the sub-period of a carrier, which is the layer most readings skip and the one that decides: a native asking in a sub-period of the sixth lord, with the next carrier’s sub-period two years away, has an answer that no transit changes. The trigger is Jupiter, the planet of the yes, passing over the houses of relationship, and Venus passing over them for the month. A window is where all three coincide, and it is a season of months: the carrier’s sub-period with Jupiter over the fifth, seventh, eleventh or natal Venus inside it, and Venus’s transit picking the month within the year. The order of reading is fixed, carrier, then sub-period, then transit, because a Jupiter transit without a carrier’s sub-period gives a pleasant year with nobody in it, which is the commonest disappointment in this reading and the reason it is done in this order.
The carriers: who can bring a relationship
The fifth lord carries a romance, felt and light, the relationship that is a pleasure before it is a plan; the seventh lord carries a bond, serious from the start and often the marriage; Venus carries attraction and the discovery of being wanted, and Venus’s own sub-period is the classical season of first love, read in the mahadasha pages beginning with Venus-Venus. A planet sitting in the fifth or seventh carries by occupation, in its own nature: Jupiter in the fifth carries the relationship that teaches, Mars the one that is a match, the Moon the one that feels like home, Rahu the one that is sudden and unusual, Saturn the one that begins late and as something else. The eleventh lord carries the meeting through friends and the fulfilment of the wish, read in the eleventh house and the fulfilment of love, and a native whose fifth and seventh lords are far from their sub-periods often has the eleventh lord’s nearer, and meets someone at a friend’s wedding. The fifth lord’s placements are read in the fifth lord in the twelve houses; for this page, what matters is which of the carriers has a sub-period in the next few years, because that is the season, and the carrier’s nature, because that is the relationship’s.
The sub-period: the season on the dasha table
The dasha table for any birth gives the sub-periods with their dates, in the Vimshottari reference, and the reading marks every sub-period in the next five years that belongs to a carrier. A carrier’s sub-period is the season in which it acts, and the relationship begins inside it, usually in its first half if a Jupiter transit falls there and in its second if not. Two things refine the season. The major period: a carrier’s sub-period inside a major period that is itself a carrier’s, Venus’s major period with the fifth lord’s sub-period, is the strongest season the chart makes, and one inside a twelfth lord’s or Ketu’s major period is a season with the volume turned down, a relationship that begins quietly and may stay private. And the sub-period’s own lord’s condition: a carrier in dignity gives its relationship fully, a carrier combust or in a dusthana gives it with a difficulty of that house’s kind, and a carrier retrograde gives it in two attempts. A native with no carrier’s sub-period in five years is told so, and told the first one after, since the alternative, a window invented from a transit, is a kindness that costs them two years.
Jupiter’s transit: the year
Jupiter spends about a year in each sign, and the year in which it transits the fifth, the seventh or the eleventh from the lagna, or the sign of natal Venus, is the year within the carrier’s sub-period; the transits are read in Jupiter through the fifth, Jupiter through the seventh and Jupiter through the eleventh. Jupiter over the fifth gives the year of the romance, over the seventh the year of the bond, over the eleventh the year of the meeting through the circle, and over natal Venus the year the attraction is answered. Jupiter’s aspects count too: from the ninth it aspects the lagna, the third and the fifth, so a Jupiter in the ninth is also a Jupiter on the fifth by aspect, and the reading takes the aspect at about two-thirds of the weight. The same transit is checked from the Moon, and a Jupiter over the fifth from both the lagna and the Moon is the year the reading is surest of. What Jupiter does not do is act alone: the year of Jupiter over the seventh in a sub-period of the eighth lord is a year in which the native is offered something and cannot take it, and the reading names it as a year of offers and not of beginnings. The general method for reading transits over the natal chart is in the gochara guide.
Venus’s transit: the month
Venus moves through a sign in about three to four weeks, and inside the Jupiter year and the carrier’s sub-period, Venus’s transit over the fifth, the seventh or the lagna is the month the meeting most often falls in; Venus over the eleventh gives the meeting at a gathering, and Venus over the third the meeting through a message or a neighbour. It is the finest layer and the least reliable alone, since Venus crosses every house every year, and it is used only inside a window the two heavier layers have already made; a reading that promises a meeting from Venus’s transit in a season without a carrier has read the weather. Venus retrograde, six weeks every nineteen months, is a month to be careful in, since what begins in it tends to be a return of something old rather than something new, which is the reconnection window the ex-return page reads. And the Moon’s transit, two and a half days per sign, is too fine to use for a beginning and is used only for the horary, which is a different instrument. Three layers, three scales: a sub-period of years, a Jupiter year, a Venus month, and a window that has all three is the honest form of the answer.
Where you meet: the carrier’s house
The question underneath “when” is “where”, and the carrier’s house answers it, since the planet whose sub-period brings the relationship brings it from the house it sits in. A carrier in the tenth brings the relationship from the workplace; in the ninth from a journey, a university or another tradition; in the eleventh from friends and gatherings; in the third from the neighbourhood, a sibling’s circle, a message or the online world, which the third house has absorbed; in the fourth from the home, the family’s introduction, the home town; in the twelfth from abroad or from somewhere private; in the sixth from a workplace of service, a hospital, a gym, a dispute resolved; in the first from the native’s own doing, the person who walked up to them. The reading gives the house with the season, and the native who is told “the eleventh lord’s sub-period, with Jupiter over your fifth, and the carrier is in the tenth” has been told the year and the building. The table below gives all twelve, and the native reading their own chart takes the carrier whose sub-period is next and looks up its house.
Twelve houses, twelve meeting places
| The carrier sits in | Where the meeting happens | What the relationship is like |
|---|---|---|
| The 1st | The native’s own doing; someone who approaches them, or they approach | Personal, direct, the native’s own choice |
| The 2nd | The family’s circle, a relative’s introduction, a meal | Family-facing early; the families involved soon |
| The 3rd | The neighbourhood, a sibling’s friends, a message, the online world | Talkative, begun in words; a short distance |
| The 4th | The home town, the mother’s introduction, a house | Domestic, comfortable, near |
| The 5th | A place of pleasure, the arts, a class, a game, a child’s event | A romance first; creative, light |
| The 6th | A workplace of service, a hospital, a gym, a dispute resolved, a colleague | Practical, tested by daily life; the working couple |
| The 7th | Through another partnership, a business, a formal introduction | A bond from the start; the arranged shape even in a love match |
| The 8th | A crisis, a loss shared, a secret setting, an inheritance dispute | Intense, transforming, private |
| The 9th | A journey, a university, a pilgrimage, another tradition, a teacher’s circle | Far, educated, from a different background |
| The 10th | The workplace, the profession, a public setting | Ambitious, public, a couple seen together |
| The 11th | Friends, a gathering, a wedding, a network, an elder sibling’s circle | Friendly first; the friend who became the partner |
| The 12th | Abroad, a hospital or retreat, somewhere private, a foreign colleague | Distant or private; two cities, or a secret kept |
The house is read for the carrier whose sub-period is next, not for the fifth lord in general; a native with three carriers has three tables of one row each, and the next sub-period chooses.
How long it lasts: the sub-period’s length
A relationship that begins in a carrier’s sub-period is carried by it, and the sub-period’s length is the relationship’s first season: Venus’s sub-periods are long, three years in most major periods, and the relationship they bring has room to become a bond; the Sun’s and Mars’s are short, a year or less, and the relationship they bring is intense and must find another carrier to continue. The reading says what happens at the sub-period’s end, which is the check the breakup page makes in reverse: if the next sub-period is also a carrier’s, the fifth lord’s followed by the seventh lord’s, the relationship passes from romance to bond on the calendar, which is the love-marriage shape; if the next sub-period is the twelfth lord’s, the eighth lord’s or Ketu’s, the relationship meets its ending season at the junction and must be strong enough to cross it. A native told the window is also told the length and the junction, and a native who knows that their Venus sub-period ends in twenty months and that Ketu’s follows knows what the relationship’s first test will be and when, which is a better preparation than any compatibility score.
Rahu’s windows: sudden, real, and not lasting
Rahu’s sub-period, and Rahu’s transit over the fifth or seventh, in Rahu through the fifth, make windows of their own, and they need their own sentence. A Rahu window brings a relationship suddenly, with someone unusual, from outside the native’s world, and with an intensity that the native has not felt before; it is real, and it is the beginning that most natives remember as the great one. It is also, in most charts, not lasting, since Rahu’s appetite reverses when its season ends, and the relationship begun in Rahu’s sub-period ends at the sub-period’s end unless another carrier takes it up, or unless Rahu’s dispositor is a carrier and its sub-period follows. The reading treats a Rahu window as a window, names it, and adds the caution: what begins here is real and is Rahu’s, and the season to watch is the sub-period’s end. It also says the useful thing about Rahu’s windows, which is that they are the windows in which the native meets the person they would never otherwise have met, and that some of the best marriages in the chart began in Rahu’s season with the unusual partner and were carried into the seventh by the sub-period that followed.
Finding your own next window in twenty minutes
With the chart open, the native can find their own next window in four steps. First, list the carriers: the lord of the fifth, the lord of the seventh, Venus, any planet in the fifth or seventh, and the lord of the eleventh, with the house each sits in. Second, open the dasha table and mark every sub-period in the next five years that belongs to one of them, with its dates; if there are none, the reading is the date of the first one after, and nothing else on the list changes that. Third, for each marked sub-period, find Jupiter’s sign in those years and translate it into a house from the lagna; a year in which Jupiter is in the fifth, seventh or eleventh, or on natal Venus, inside a marked sub-period, is a window. Fourth, take the carrier of that window and read its house from the table for where. The result is a sentence: from such a month to such a month, the fifth lord’s sub-period with Jupiter over the seventh, the carrier in the tenth, so at work, a romance that becomes a bond if the next sub-period carries. That is what the reading gives, and a native who has found it themselves has understood the chart better than one who was told; the consultation adds the checks the twenty minutes cannot, the Moon chart, the Navamsa, the carrier’s dignity, and the junction after.
A worked chart: met at work, in the eleventh lord’s season, under Jupiter
An Aries lagna woman, particulars altered, who asked at twenty-seven, in the Moon’s major period. The carriers: the Sun, lord of the fifth, in Taurus in the second with Mercury; Venus, lord of the second and seventh, in Gemini in the third; Saturn, lord of the tenth and eleventh, in Capricorn in the tenth, its own sign; Rahu in Leo in the fifth, with Ketu in Aquarius in the eleventh beside Jupiter, lord of the ninth and twelfth. Mars, the lagna lord, in Aries in the lagna. The Moon, lord of the fourth, in Scorpio in the eighth, debilitated. Five carriers, then: the Sun in the second, Venus in the third, Saturn in the tenth, Rahu in the fifth, Jupiter in the eleventh. The dasha table: she was in Moon-Jupiter, the ninth and twelfth lord’s sub-period, the carrier by occupation in the eleventh, with Ketu beside it; Moon-Saturn followed, nineteen months, the eleventh lord’s own sub-period, the carrier in the tenth, its own sign; then Moon-Mercury, not a carrier; then Moon-Ketu; then Moon-Venus, the seventh lord’s, two years further on. Jupiter’s transit: in Leo, her fifth, for the first year of Moon-Saturn.
The reading said: the current sub-period is a carrier’s, Jupiter in the eleventh, but Ketu sits with it and the window is quiet, friends and gatherings that do not produce anyone; the window is the next sub-period, the eleventh lord’s, from such a month, nineteen months long, with Jupiter over your fifth for its first year, and the carrier sits in the tenth in its own sign, so the meeting is at work, through a colleague or a senior, and the relationship is public from the start, a couple seen together. Rahu in the fifth adds that the beginning is sudden and the person is not who you expect. The sub-period’s length is nineteen months and the next is Mercury’s, not a carrier’s, so the relationship must be strong enough to cross a quiet year, and then Venus’s sub-period, the seventh lord’s, two years on, is the bond. She met him in the fourth month of Moon-Saturn, at a project across two departments, suddenly, a man eight years older whom she had disliked for a year, which is Rahu in the fifth and Saturn’s age both; they crossed Mercury’s quiet year with the relationship intact and the friends complaining they were never seen; and they married in Moon-Venus, in the month Jupiter transited Libra, her seventh. The window had been read from the carrier, the sub-period and the transit in that order, the building had been read from the tenth, and the length and the junction had been read from the table; nothing in it had been the weather.
Frequently asked questions
When will I find love according to astrology?
In the next window where three layers meet: a carrier’s sub-period, the fifth lord’s, the seventh lord’s, Venus’s, a fifth- or seventh-house planet’s, or the eleventh lord’s; Jupiter’s transit over the fifth, seventh or eleventh or over natal Venus as the year inside it; and Venus’s transit over the fifth or seventh as the month. The reading gives the window as a season of months with the house the meeting happens in. A chart with no carrier’s sub-period in the next few years has its answer there, and is told the first one after.
Which dasha gives love or a relationship?
The sub-period of a carrier: the fifth lord’s gives a romance, the seventh lord’s a bond, Venus’s attraction and first love, a planet in the fifth or seventh gives a relationship in its own nature, and the eleventh lord’s the meeting through friends. The strongest season is a carrier’s sub-period inside a carrier’s major period, Venus’s major period with the fifth lord’s sub-period for instance; a carrier’s sub-period inside a twelfth lord’s or Ketu’s major period brings a relationship that begins quietly.
Does Jupiter transit bring love?
Jupiter over the fifth, the seventh, the eleventh or natal Venus gives the year within a carrier’s sub-period, and it is the trigger that turns a season into a date; it also aspects the fifth from the ninth and the lagna, at about two-thirds of the weight. Alone, without a carrier’s sub-period, it gives a pleasant year with nobody in it, or a year of offers the native cannot take, which is the commonest disappointment in this reading and the reason the sub-period is read first.
Where will I meet my partner according to my chart?
In the house the carrier sits in, the planet whose sub-period brings the relationship: the tenth is the workplace, the ninth a journey, a university or another tradition, the eleventh friends and gatherings, the third the neighbourhood, a sibling’s circle, a message or the online world, the fourth the home and the family’s introduction, the twelfth abroad or somewhere private, the sixth a workplace of service, the first the native’s own approach. The house is read for the carrier whose sub-period is next, not for the fifth lord in general.
How long will the relationship last once it begins?
Its first season is the carrier’s sub-period, long for Venus at about three years and short for the Sun or Mars at a year or less, and what happens at the sub-period’s end depends on the next one: another carrier’s, the seventh lord’s after the fifth’s, passes the relationship from romance to bond on the calendar, while the twelfth lord’s, the eighth lord’s or Ketu’s gives it an ending season to cross. The reading gives the window, the length and the junction together.
Does Rahu bring love?
Rahu’s sub-period and Rahu’s transit over the fifth or seventh bring a relationship suddenly, with someone unusual from outside the native’s world, and with an intensity the native has not felt before; it is real. In most charts it is not lasting, since Rahu’s appetite reverses when its season ends, unless another carrier takes the relationship up or Rahu’s dispositor’s sub-period follows. The reading names a Rahu window as a window and adds that the season to watch is the sub-period’s end.
Can I find my next relationship window myself?
Yes, in four steps: list the carriers with the house each sits in; mark every sub-period in the next five years on the dasha table that belongs to one of them; find Jupiter’s sign in those years and translate it into a house, so that Jupiter in the fifth, seventh or eleventh or on natal Venus inside a marked sub-period is a window; and read the carrier’s house for where. A consultation adds what twenty minutes cannot, the Moon chart, the Navamsa, the carrier’s dignity and the junction after.

The carrier, the sub-period, Jupiter's year and the building: one window, read in the right order.
A relationship consultation finds your carriers and marks their sub-periods, lays Jupiter's and Venus's transits over them from the lagna and the Moon, checks the carrier's dignity and the Navamsa, and gives you the next window as a season of months with the house the meeting happens in, the length of the first season and the junction that follows it.
