Money in the birth chart is read in three questions, and everything else is detail. Which planet does the money belong to: the second and eleventh houses and their lords, for this ascendant, in this chart, and not the natural significator that the books name for everyone. How much can the houses carry: the dignity of those lords, the combinations they form, the bindus of the money houses and the leak between them. And when do they deliver: the dasha table, which turns a promise into a decade, the sub-periods that turn a decade into a year, and the transits that turn the year into a season. This guide is the map of the whole wealth cluster on this site, thirty articles written to the same doctrine, each answering one part of the three questions, and it is meant to be read first, because it tells you which of the thirty your chart actually needs.
The doctrine is kept in every article and stated once here. Money is read as tendency and timing, never as figures. A yoga is a promise and not a result, and a promise needs dignity, a period and the absence of denial before it pays. The chart reads the native’s capacity, appetite and seasons, and it does not read markets, prices or the decisions of other people. Nothing in the cluster is investment, trading or lending advice, and the reading that names an amount, an instrument or a date to buy has left the method. Astrology explains the conditions of a life’s money, and the native still has to live it.
Conventions used across the cluster. Parashari astrology, whole-sign houses, Lahiri ayanamsa, Vimshottari dasha, the D2 hora and D4 Chaturthamsa as the divisional layer, Parashari ashtakavarga as Jagannatha Hora computes it. The KP system is linked as a separate instrument where it reads the same question and is never mixed into a Parashari reading. Every worked chart in the cluster has its particulars altered, and every one was checked for astronomical possibility and dasha arithmetic before it was written down.

The three questions, and the order they are asked in
The first question is the planet. Every ascendant hands the second and eleventh houses to two planets, one for Leo and Aquarius, and those are the planets the money belongs to; Jupiter is the natural significator of wealth and blesses the money houses everywhere, but it rules a money house for three ascendants only, which is why the chart with a magnificent Jupiter and modest means is the commonest disappointment in the subject. The second question is capacity, and it has three parts: the dignity and placement of the two lords, the combinations they form, and the count of bindus in the second, eleventh and twelfth, which turns the reading from tendency into numbers. The third question is timing, and it has three layers: the promise from the birth chart, the permission from the running period, and the date from the transit, and a wealth event needs all three. The order is fixed, planet, capacity, timing, and a reading that begins with the timing, “is Jupiter’s period good for money”, has skipped the two questions that decide the answer.
The foundations: the money planet, the yogas, the ascendant
The cluster opens with the four-step test that finds the one planet a given chart’s money belongs to, the lord of the second, the lord of the eleventh, the strongest occupant of either, and the planet whose periods coincided with the years the money actually changed, in Which Planet Gives Wealth?. The combinations those planets form, fifteen of them in one table with the four questions that decide whether any yoga is real, the counting and denial rules, and the honest frequency, formation in a third of charts and delivery in perhaps one in ten, are in Wealth Yogas in the Kundli. And the two money lords for every ascendant, with how each pair gets on and where each lagna’s money comes from, the easy pairs and the two-source pairs, are in Wealth by Ascendant. Three articles, and between them the first two questions for any chart; the older pages on this site that they rest on are the Dhana yoga guide and the two hubs of the money lords’ placements, the second lord in the twelve houses and the eleventh lord in the twelve houses.
The timing: periods, transits and the year
The third question has three articles. When Will I Become Rich? gives the three layers, promise, period and trigger, the pairs of periods that deliver, income against accumulation, early money and late, and the chart that never gets rich and what it gets instead. Which Mahadasha Brings Money? reads all nine periods for money by the rule that a period gives by lordship first, occupation second and nature third, which is why Saturn’s dasha is a wealth period for Capricorn and a squeeze for Leo. And Wealth and Transits reads Jupiter’s twelve-year money cycle house by house, Saturn’s building houses and squeezing ones, the double filter of bindus that decides whether a transit delivers, the transit counted from the Moon, and how to build a five-year money calendar from the ephemeris. The dasha sequence itself for any birth is in the Vimshottari reference, and the KP timing of the same question, through the cusp sub-lords, is a separate instrument in wealth through the second and eleventh cusps.
The trouble: leaks, loss seasons, debt and the account that stays empty
Four articles read the side of money the promises leave out. Money Problems in the Chart gives the diagnostic, chart or period or habit, the eight placements that leak and what each leaks through, Daridra yoga against Saturn’s lean years, which is the damaging mistake it names, and what the chart says actually helps, none of it a gemstone. Financial Loss Periods reads loss as a season with two edges, the sub-periods that take, the junction between major periods, Saturn and the nodes over the money houses, the severity scale by how many layers coincide, and the recovery on three signals. Debt in the Chart reads the sixth house for the three questions people ask, will the loan come, will I repay, when will I be free, with the borrowing cycle named as a mechanism and good debt against bad by which house the loan serves. And Why Can’t I Save Money? reads saving as the ratio of three houses, the eleventh that earns, the second that keeps and the twelfth that spends, with the bindu comparisons that give the ratio as numbers and the nine spending styles by planet.
What money buys: property and the vehicle
The fourth house’s two purchases have an article each. When Will I Buy a House? reads the fourth with Mars for land and Saturn for what is built, ten property signatures, the three charts that buy, inherit and rent, the sub-period pairs that buy, Jupiter’s transit as the year and Saturn’s as the push, the loan behind the purchase, and the D4 as the second opinion. Vehicle Purchase in the Chart reads the same house with Venus in front, the kind of vehicle each planet buys, the month from Venus’s transit, and the periods in which the chart asks for extra care on the road, written as vulnerability and never as prediction. Both rest on the fourth lord in the twelve houses and on the divisional pages, the D4 Chaturthamsa guide and the D16 Shodasamsa guide.
Money that arrives: the windfall, the legacy, the spouse, the family, the foreign
Five articles read money that comes from beyond the native’s own effort. Sudden Wealth in the Chart reads the eighth house and Rahu for the seven kinds of windfall, with the sentence that the same doors swing both ways and the chart that brings sudden money is not the chart that keeps it, and an honest section on lottery. Inheritance in the Chart reads whose estate it is through the derived houses, the share among siblings, the will and the dispute, and the receipt timed by the eighth lord’s periods, never a death. Wealth Through Marriage reads the spouse’s wealth through the eighth as the second from the seventh and the marriage’s effect through the seventh lord on the money houses, for either sex, with the earning partner read through the fourth. Family Wealth in the Chart reads the money a native is born into through the second, fourth and ninth, whether it reaches them, the family business, and the heir who keeps against the heir who spends. And Foreign Income in the Chart reads the twelfth turned into income, the six kinds of money from abroad, the remote worker, and whether the money comes home.
The five money planets
Five articles read one planet each through the same layers, lordship, house, sign and condition, with the planet’s nature as the colour. Jupiter and Wealth reads the dhanakaraka with its money role for all twelve ascendants and the protective aspect on the money houses, and closes on the contrast between a magnificent Jupiter that gave no money and a plain one that gave money alone. Venus and Wealth reads wealth enjoyed, with combust Venus given its own section and the debilitated Venus that made a fortune. Saturn and Wealth reads slow money and late money, with the age layer that Saturn alone needs, so that the young native with Saturn on the second is told they are early, not poor. Rahu and Wealth reads the fortune from nowhere through the dispositor rule, the period as two halves, and whether the chart can keep it. And Mercury and Wealth reads money made in pieces, with combustion and the Budhaditya yoga held together and the retrograde Mercury that a fifth of charts carry. The mahadasha pages of all nine planets, for every area of life, are indexed at the mahadasha index.
The technical layer: the axis, the bindus, Lakshmi yoga, the divisions
Four articles carry the mechanics. The 2nd and 11th Houses Together reads the wealth axis as one structure, the second as the fourth from the eleventh and the eleventh as the tenth from the second, the exchange of their lords, the twelfth between them, and the fact that only Saturn from the second and Mars from the eleventh can aspect across it. Ashtakavarga for Wealth reads the bindus of the money houses, the three comparisons that decide earning, saving and keeping, the money lords’ own maps, Jupiter’s and Saturn’s bindus as transit filters, and a nine-line checklist that takes five minutes in Jagannatha Hora. Lakshmi Yoga states the two classical definitions as written, gives the one placement that forms the strict yoga for each ascendant, and names the five ascendants for which it is geometrically impossible, which no popular page does. And Reading the D2 Hora and D4 for Wealth works three charts with their degrees through the birth chart, the hora and the Chaturthamsa in the order that keeps the divisions honest, resting on the D2 hora guide.
The lives money makes: the self-made, the many-streamed, the speculator, the giver
The last four articles read the kinds of life that money produces. Self-Made Wealth reads the chart that builds from nothing through the upachaya rule, malefics grow in the third, sixth, tenth and eleventh, with the lagna lord tied to the money houses, the cancelled debility as the classical rise from a low start, and the three ages of a self-made fortune, venture, scale and keeping. Multiple Income Sources in the Chart reads the eleventh for streams, the dual-sign rule that gives four ascendants an eleventh built for two sources, passive income against active by house, and the scattered eleventh that Saturn prunes. Risk Appetite in the Chart reads the fifth house for who should never speculate and who can afford to, the periods in which the fifth misleads its own native, and the compulsive signature met with honesty and a counsellor’s name, with no advice on what to buy at any point. And Charity and Giving in the Chart reads the twelfth house done well, the giving that keeps the second against the giving that empties it, and the daan of the texts read as the texts wrote it and then as practice shows it.

Reading your own chart for money in an hour
With the chart open in Jagannatha Hora, or cast in the kundali calculator, the reading takes an hour and runs in the order of the three questions. First, the planet: find the lords of the second and eleventh for your ascendant from the ascendant article, note where each sits and its dignity, note any planet in either house, and look at your dasha table for which of those planets had a period in the years your money changed; the planet named twice is your money planet. Second, the capacity: check whether the two lords are connected by conjunction, aspect or exchange, count the yogas that pass the four questions, find the twelfth lord and see whether it touches either money house, and open the Sarvashtakavarga to compare the eleventh against the twelfth and the second against the twelfth, which says in two numbers whether the chart saves and holds. Third, the timing: walk the dasha table forward, mark the sub-periods of the money lords as permitted years and those of the twelfth, sixth and eighth lords as holding years, list Jupiter’s sign for each of the next five years and translate it into a house, and check Jupiter’s bindus in the signs on your second and eleventh. The result fits on one page: two lords, their condition, their connection, the leak, the ratio, and the money years of the next five with the years to hold. Everything in the thirty articles is a refinement of that page, and the two questions the page cannot settle on its own, whether the birth time is sound enough for the divisions and what the reading means for the particular decision in front of you, are what a consultation is for.
A last word on the doctrine, because the subject attracts more false promises than any other in astrology. The chart does not make anyone rich and does not make anyone poor; it describes the conditions, the planet the money belongs to, the capacity of the houses, the seasons of the periods, and it describes them with enough precision that a native who reads them well makes better decisions in the same life they would have had anyway. The self-made chart and the born-rich chart, the spender and the saver, the speculator and the giver, are all in these pages, and none of them is a fate. The classical sentence for the whole subject is that the second house is meant to feed the others and not to starve them, and every article here was written with that sentence in view.
Frequently asked questions
Which planet is responsible for wealth?
The lords of the second and eleventh houses for your ascendant, which are two planets for ten ascendants and one for Leo and Aquarius, and not the natural significator the books name for everyone. Jupiter is the dhanakaraka and blesses the money houses in any chart, but it rules a money house for Taurus, Scorpio and Aquarius only, which is why a chart can have a magnificent Jupiter and modest means. The four-step test that finds the one planet a given chart’s money belongs to is the first article of this cluster.
Which house is for money in astrology?
The second house is what is kept, savings and accumulated wealth, and the eleventh is what is gained, income and returns; together they are the wealth axis, and the twelfth between them is the outflow. The fourth adds property, the eighth inheritance and others’ money, the ninth fortune, the fifth speculation, and the sixth debt. A wealth reading opens with the lords of the second and eleventh and their condition, then the twelfth as the leak, then the rest.
How can I know if I will be rich from my kundli?
By three questions in order: which planet the money belongs to, the lords of the second and eleventh for your ascendant; how much the houses can carry, the lords’ dignity, the yogas that pass the four checks, and the bindus of the money houses; and when the periods deliver, the sub-periods of the money lords with Jupiter’s transit as the year. Rich is measured against your starting point, the chart gives tendency and timing rather than figures, and a reading that names an amount is guessing.
What is dhan yog in the kundli?
The connection of the second and eleventh lords by conjunction, mutual aspect or exchange, the plainest wealth yoga and the one behind most wealthy charts. It is a formation and not a result: it pays when both lords are dignified, when neither is connected to the sixth, eighth or twelfth, and when a period of one of them falls in the working years. Some Dhana connection forms in about a third of charts and delivers in perhaps one in ten, and the fifteen wealth yogas are read together in the yoga article of this cluster.
Which dasha is good for money?
The period of whichever planet rules the second or eleventh house for your ascendant, or sits in one of them, provided the planet is in dignity and the chart promises wealth, with the sub-period of the other money lord inside it as the classical year of the fortune. A period gives money by what its planet rules first, where it sits second and what it is third, so Saturn’s dasha builds a fortune in one chart and squeezes another, and the planet’s name alone says nothing.
Can astrology predict the stock market or tell me what to invest in?
No. A native’s chart reads the native, the planet their money belongs to, the capacity of their houses, their appetite for risk and the seasons in which their judgment is weakest; it does not contain the market, which is other people’s charts and the world. Nothing in this cluster is investment, trading or lending advice, and a reading that names an instrument or a date to buy has left the method. The risk article reads who can afford the fifth house and who should never touch it.
Where should I start reading?
With the four foundation articles in order: the money planet, the yogas, the timing, and the ascendant table, which together answer the three questions for any chart. Then choose by what your chart left open: the problems and loss articles if money does not stay, the property and vehicle articles for a purchase, the five planet articles for the planet your money belongs to, the technical articles to check the reading with numbers, and the lives articles for the kind of money life your chart describes. The hour-long reading at the end of this guide tells you which.

Three questions, one chart, and the answers in your own dasha table.
A one-to-one consultation names the planet your money belongs to, measures what your houses can carry from the lords, the yogas and the bindus, and marks in your dasha table the money years of the next decade and the years to hold, with your birth time checked first.
