Why every ascendant gets own sign

A house lord is by definition the planet ruling the sign that falls in that house, so placing it in that house necessarily puts it in the sign it rules, whatever the ascendant. Twelve of the 144 lord-and-house combinations work this way, and the pattern is identical in each: all twelve ascendants get own sign, exactly six land in moolatrikona, and exactly one lands exalted, which is always Mercury in Virgo.
