September 2026 Planetary Overview

The month begins with a slow-planet event that has been building all year. Jupiter at 19° 27′ Cancer and retrograde Saturn at 19° 27′ Pisces reach an exact 120-degree separation at approximately 03:47 IST on September 1. Because both planets move slowly, the trine influence spans several weeks on either side of the exact date rather than a single day.

The eclipse season that dominated August is over. The lunar eclipse of August 28 was the second and final eclipse of that season, and both September lunations fall well clear of the nodal axis. The new moon arrives on September 11 at ~08:57 IST at 24° 12′ Leo in Purva Phalguni, and the full moon on September 26 at ~22:19 IST at 9° 23′ Pisces in Uttara Bhadrapada. Sun Daily Positions: September 2026

Sun moves through the second half of Leo until the Kanya Sankranti on the morning of September 17, then through the first third of Virgo. Daily motion is approximately 58 arc-minutes per day. The Sun crosses from Purva Phalguni into Uttara Phalguni on September 13 and into Hasta on September 27. Mars Daily Positions: September 2026

Mars spends the first seventeen days of September completing its Gemini transit, moving through Punarvasu nakshatra from September 2, and enters Cancer, its debilitation sign, at ~16:36 IST on September 18. Within Cancer, Mars remains in Punarvasu until September 24 and then moves into Pushya. Daily motion is approximately 37 arc-minutes per day. Debilitation describes a sign environment that does not suit Mars’s direct style; the practical outcome in a given chart depends on house rulerships, aspects, and any cancellation factors, so read the transit through the individual chart rather than as a blanket difficulty.

Mercury Daily Positions: September 2026

Mercury begins September in Leo, combust after its August 27 superior conjunction, and clears the 6-degree combustion boundary on the morning of September 3. Moving near its maximum direct speed, Mercury enters Virgo, its exaltation and own sign, at ~13:33 IST on September 7, crosses Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, and Chitra in quick succession, and enters Libra at ~12:38 IST on September 26. Mercury is direct all month, with its next retrograde station falling on October 24.

Jupiter is direct all month; the annual retrograde station falls on December 13, by which time Jupiter will have crossed into Leo.
