Vedic Planetary Positions November 2026: Complete Sidereal Ephemeris (Lahiri)

This page gives the sidereal planetary positions for November 2026 in the Lahiri (Chitra Paksha) ayanamsa, calculated for 00:00 IST on each day, with the nakshatra and pada and the KP sub-lord for every entry. It is the November instalment of the monthly series, meant for checking a chart, following a transit by hand, fixing a muhurta, and reading sub-lords without opening the software.

November 2026 is a month of turning. The two inner planets have been retrograde since October and both turn direct within nine hours of each other on the 13th and 14th. Jupiter has just stepped into Leo and spends the month in the first degrees of Magha, where Ketu is waiting and where Mars arrives on the 12th. The Sun moves from Libra into Scorpio on the 16th. Saturn keeps retrograding slowly through Uttara Bhadrapada and the nodes finish their last full month on the Aquarius-Leo axis. There are no eclipses this month.

Key Transits in November 2026

  • Jupiter in Leo, first full month. Jupiter entered Leo on 31 October at 12:02 IST and moves only from 0°04′ to 2°30′ Leo during November, inside Magha pada 1 the whole way, slowing towards its retrograde station of 13 December. Full dates for all three phases are in Jupiter Transit Leo 2026-2028.
  • Jupiter conjunct Ketu on 12 November at 01:59 IST, at 1°16′ Leo in Magha. Ketu is moving backward towards the Cancer border while Jupiter moves forward, so the two pass each other once and do not meet again.
  • Mars enters Leo on 12 November at 20:18 IST, leaving the Ashlesha-Magha gandanta. It is conjunct Ketu on 15 November (06:01 IST, 1°06′ Leo) and conjunct Jupiter on 16 November (11:53 IST, 1°39′ Leo). For three or four days around mid-month Mars, Jupiter and Ketu sit within two degrees of each other in early Magha.
  • Mercury retrograde ends. Mercury, retrograde since 24 October, is combust and conjunct the Sun on 4 November (19:54 IST, 17°57′ Libra), leaves combustion on the 10th and stations direct on 13 November at 21:24 IST at 10°48′ Libra, Swati pada 2. It stays in Libra all month and enters Scorpio on 2 December.
  • Venus retrograde ends. Venus, retrograde since 3 October, slips back into Virgo on 6 November at 01:04 IST, stations direct on 14 November at 05:59 IST at 28°38′ Virgo, Chitra pada 2, and re-enters Libra on 22 November at 17:21 IST. The whole retrograde is written up in Venus Retrograde 2026 in Libra and Virgo.
  • Vrischika Sankranti on 16 November at 19:43 IST. The Sun moves through Swati, Vishakha (from the 6th) and Anuradha (from the 20th).
  • Saturn retrograde all month, from 15°04′ to 13°49′ Pisces in Uttara Bhadrapada pada 4, slowing to a crawl. The direct station falls on 11 December at 13°42′ Pisces.
  • Rahu and Ketu (mean node) move from 1°51′ to 0°19′ of Aquarius and Leo. The axis changes to Capricorn-Cancer on 5 December at 22:32 IST by the mean node; the true node crosses late on 25 November.
  • Diwali and Kartik Purnima. The Kartik Amavasya tithi begins on 8 November at 11:29 IST and the New Moon is exact on 9 November at 12:32 IST at 22°39′ Libra in Vishakha, so Lakshmi puja falls on the evening of Sunday 8 November. The Full Moon is exact on 24 November at 20:23 IST at 8°06′ Taurus in Krittika.

How to Read This Ephemeris

Every position is the sidereal longitude at 00:00 IST (18:30 UTC the previous evening), given as degrees and minutes within the sign, with the sign abbreviated to three letters. Ari, Tau, Gem, Can, Leo, Vir, Lib, Sco, Sag, Cap, Aqu and Pis stand for Aries through Pisces. A planet is marked (R) when retrograde and (C) when combust, using the orbs the series has used throughout: Mars 17°, Mercury 14° direct and 12° retrograde, Jupiter 11°, Venus 10° direct and 8° retrograde, Saturn 15°.

The Nakshatra column gives the star and the pada. The Sub-Lord column is the Krishnamurti sub-lord read off the Lahiri longitude, so it tells you which of the 249 subs the planet occupies on that day. The KP ayanamsa (KPNA) is about 24°08′ in November 2026 against Lahiri’s 24°14′, a difference of a little under six arc minutes. A planet within a few minutes of a sub boundary can therefore sit in the previous sub when the chart is cast in KP ayanamsa. For anything that depends on the sub-lord, recompute at the exact time in the software; the method is explained in Mastering the Sub-Lord Theory.

The Moon table has one row for every day because the Moon covers about thirteen degrees a day and crosses a sign every two and a quarter days. The other planets are sampled at the dates where something changes, with the stations and ingresses given to the minute in the events table further down. Interpolate between rows for the days in between; the Sun moves one degree a day, Mercury and Venus a degree or more once they are direct, Mars about half a degree, Jupiter about seven minutes a day at the start of the month falling to two and a half by the end, Saturn four minutes backward falling to one, the nodes about three minutes backward.

November 2026 Planetary Overview

Sun. The Sun begins the month at 14°07′ Libra in Swati and crosses into Vishakha on the 6th at 21:03 IST. It reaches 29°59′ Libra at 19:43 IST on the 16th and enters Scorpio, which is the Vrischika Sankranti; most panchangs will give the punya kala for the afternoon and evening of the 16th. Anuradha begins on the 20th at 03:03 IST and the Sun ends the month at 13°19′ Scorpio. The Sun is the steady hand this month, moving its degree a day while everything around it changes direction.

Moon. The Moon starts November at 29°59′ Gemini, on the edge of Cancer, which it enters within minutes of midnight. It runs through Cancer, Leo and Virgo in the first week, is new in Libra on the 9th, moves through Scorpio, Sagittarius and Capricorn in the second week, and is full in Taurus on the 24th. The Kartik Purnima tithi begins on the 23rd at 23:43 IST. On the morning of the 30th the Moon is at 24°21′ Cancer in Ashlesha; it enters Leo at 09:42 IST, so the month closes with the Moon in early Leo.

Mars. Mars spends the first twelve days finishing Cancer, in Ashlesha, the last nakshatra of the water sign, where it is debilitated and slow by its own standards at about half a degree a day. It crosses into Leo at 20:18 IST on the 12th, directly into Magha, and that crossing is the Ashlesha-Magha gandanta point, which deserves a note in any muhurta work for the 12th and 13th. In Leo, Mars immediately meets Ketu (exact on the 15th) and then Jupiter (exact on the 16th). Three planets in the first two degrees of a fire sign, one of them the node, is the configuration of the month; it will show up in the charts of people with early Leo, early Aquarius, or planets in Magha and Dhanishta. Mars ends November at 7°14′ Leo, still in Magha pada 3.

Mercury. Mercury’s retrograde began on 24 October at 26°45′ Libra in Vishakha. On 1 November it is at 22°41′ Libra, retrograde and combust, and it passes between the Earth and the Sun on the 4th (the inferior conjunction, 17°57′ Libra, Swati). It falls back into Swati on the 3rd, leaves combustion on the 10th and stations direct on the 13th at 21:24 IST at 10°48′ Libra, Swati pada 2. From there it picks up speed quickly, re-enters Vishakha on the 25th and reaches 26°02′ Libra on the 30th, moving well over a degree a day by then. It will not leave Libra until 2 December. The retrograde is covered in Mercury Retrograde 2026. Practically, the shadow period ends only when Mercury passes 26°45′ Libra again, which happens around midday on 30 November.

Jupiter. Jupiter entered Leo on 31 October at 12:02 IST, closing its exalted run through Cancer. In November it moves from 0°04′ to 2°30′ Leo, never leaving Magha pada 1, and its daily motion drops from about seven minutes to about two and a half as the 13 December retrograde station approaches. On 12 November at 01:59 IST it passes over Ketu at 1°16′ Leo. From the 12th it also shares the sign with Mars, and the two are exactly conjunct on the 16th. Readers with Leo rising or a Leo Moon get Jupiter on the Lagna or the Moon this month; those with early Aquarius get the opposition. Jupiter returns to Cancer on 25 January 2027, so this is the preview of the Leo transit, about three months of it, and what Jupiter touches now it will touch again from late June 2027.

Venus. Venus stationed retrograde on 3 October at 14°15′ Libra and passed the Sun on 24 October. On 1 November it is at 2°08′ Libra, retrograde but no longer combust by the 8 degree orb. It backs into Virgo at 01:04 IST on the 6th and comes to rest on the 14th at 05:59 IST at 28°38′ Virgo, Chitra pada 2, nine hours after Mercury’s station. It then moves forward through the last degrees of Virgo, re-enters Libra at 17:21 IST on the 22nd, and ends the month at 3°06′ Libra. Venus is in Chitra for the entire month, retrograde and direct. Its shadow period runs until it passes 14°15′ Libra again on 16 December, but Venus direct in its own sign from the 22nd is the first clean Venus of the autumn.

Saturn. Saturn is retrograde throughout, from 15°04′ Pisces on the 1st to 13°49′ on the 30th, all of it in Uttara Bhadrapada pada 4. Its speed falls from about four minutes a day to about one, and the direct station comes on 11 December at 13°42′ Pisces. Saturn is within a degree of 14° Pisces from 3 November to 19 January 2027, the station in the middle of that span, so anyone with a planet or cusp near 14° of a dual sign is under a long, slow contact through the winter. The Pisces transit as a whole is in Saturn Transit in Pisces.

Rahu and Ketu. By the mean node, Rahu moves from 1°51′ to 0°19′ Aquarius in Dhanishta pada 3, and Ketu from 1°51′ to 0°19′ Leo in Magha pada 1. This is their last full month on the Aquarius-Leo axis; Rahu enters Capricorn and Ketu enters Cancer on 5 December at 22:32 IST. The true node swings around the mean node and is moving about twice as fast this month: it stands 51′ ahead of the mean node on 1 November and 42′ behind it on the 30th, and it crosses the sign boundary late on 25 November, which is why some panchangs give a late-November date for the change. Jupiter’s pass over Ketu on the 12th and Mars’ pass on the 15th fall in the final degree and a half of the axis. The new axis is covered in Rahu-Ketu Transit in Capricorn-Cancer 2026-2028.

Lahiri Ayanamsa for November 2026

DateLahiri Ayanamsa
1 Nov 202624°13’55” (24.2319°)
10 Nov 202624°13’56” (24.2323°)
20 Nov 202624°13’58” (24.2326°)
30 Nov 202624°13’59” (24.2330°)

The ayanamsa grows by about four seconds of arc across the month. The yearly table and the way to verify the value in the software are in Lahiri Ayanamsa 2026; the long-run tables are in Historical Lahiri Ayanamsa Values.

Methodology and Verification

Positions are computed with the Swiss Ephemeris in sidereal mode with the Lahiri ayanamsa, geocentric, apparent longitudes, for 00:00 IST on each date. Rahu is the mean node and Ketu is placed exactly opposite. Ingress and station times are found by bisection on the daily series and are good to the minute; a different ephemeris engine may differ by a minute or two on the stations, where the planet’s motion is close to zero.

Three cautions, the same as in the earlier months. First, a position at 00:00 IST is not the position at the time of birth or the time of a question; the Moon in particular moves half a degree an hour, so interpolate or recompute. Second, the sub-lords here are read on the Lahiri longitude; cast the chart in KP ayanamsa for horary work and expect a planet near a sub boundary to shift. Third, the (R) and (C) marks describe the state at midnight. Mercury is marked retrograde on the 13th and direct on the 14th because the station falls at 21:24 IST on the 13th; Venus likewise shows retrograde on the 14th because its station is at 05:59 IST that morning.

To check any row in Jagannatha Hora, set the ayanamsa to Lahiri, the node to mean, enter the date with 00:00 as the time and New Delhi or any Indian location (longitude does not change a geocentric position), and read the planetary positions table. The steps are in How to Check Transits in Jagannatha Hora.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which positions matter most for chart work in November 2026?
The cluster in early Leo. Jupiter at 0° to 2°30′, Ketu at 1°51′ falling to 0°19′, and Mars from the 12th. If a natal planet, the Lagna or a KP cusp sits between 29° Cancer and 3° Leo, or opposite in early Aquarius, this is the month it is touched. After that, the two stations: Mercury at 10°48′ Libra on the 13th and Venus at 28°38′ Virgo on the 14th.

When is Vrischika Sankranti in 2026?
16 November 2026 at 19:43 IST, when the Sun reaches 0° Scorpio by the Lahiri ayanamsa. The Sun is then in Vishakha pada 4 and moves into Anuradha on the 20th.

Is Mercury retrograde in November 2026?
Yes, until 13 November at 21:24 IST. It has been retrograde since 24 October and is combust until about the 10th. From the 14th it is direct in Libra, and it enters Scorpio on 2 December.

When does Venus turn direct?
14 November 2026 at 05:59 IST at 28°38′ Virgo, in Chitra pada 2. It spent 6 to 22 November in Virgo and is back in Libra from the evening of the 22nd.

What is the Jupiter and Ketu conjunction on 12 November?
Jupiter, moving forward at about five minutes a day, passes Ketu, moving backward at three minutes a day, at 1°16′ Leo in Magha at 01:59 IST. They separate at once and do not meet again in this transit, because Ketu leaves Leo on 5 December and Jupiter does not return to early Leo until late June 2027. Mars joins the degree on the 15th and 16th.

When do Rahu and Ketu change signs?
5 December 2026 at 22:32 IST by the mean node, which is what this series and Jagannatha Hora’s default setting use. By the true node the crossing is late on 25 November. Either way, the whole of November is still Rahu in Aquarius and Ketu in Leo.

Is Saturn retrograde in November 2026?
Yes, for the whole month, from 15°04′ to 13°49′ Pisces in Uttara Bhadrapada pada 4. It stations direct on 11 December at 13°42′ Pisces.

Are there eclipses in November 2026?
No. The year’s eclipses were on 17 February, 3 March, 12 August and 28 August. The New Moon of 9 November and the Full Moon of 24 November are ordinary lunations.

What is the Lahiri ayanamsa in November 2026?
24°13’55” on 1 November, rising to 24°13’59” by the 30th, or 24.232° to 24.233° in decimal. The KP (Krishnamurti) ayanamsa is about 24°08′ in the same month.

Why does the Sub-Lord column sometimes change while the nakshatra and pada do not?
Because a pada is 3°20′ wide and the nine subs inside a nakshatra range from 40′ (Sun’s sub) to 2°13’20” (Venus’s sub), so a pada usually holds parts of two or three subs. Saturn, for example, stays in Uttara Bhadrapada pada 4 all month but moves from the Jupiter sub to the Rahu sub on the 4th.

Conclusion

November 2026 opens with Mercury and Venus retrograde in Libra, Mars finishing Cancer and Jupiter newly in Leo beside Ketu, and closes with both inner planets direct, the Sun in Scorpio, Mars and Jupiter together in Magha and the nodes in their last days on the Aquarius-Leo axis. The tables above give the daily positions in Lahiri ayanamsa with nakshatra, pada and KP sub-lord; the events table gives the stations and ingresses to the minute. The December instalment will carry the nodal shift on the 5th and the two outer-planet stations on the 11th and 13th.
