Ketu in Revati means Ketu was placed between 16 degrees 40 minutes and 30 degrees of Pisces at your birth, in the twenty-seventh and final nakshatra, ruled by Mercury and presided over by Pushan, the nourisher and guide of roads. Pisces belongs to Jupiter, so the character being concentrated and then released is faith, breadth and compassion. The correspondences here are exact rather than approximate. Pushan is the one who walks with the departing along a road they have not travelled, Ketu is the graha the tradition assigns to release, and this mansion closes the circle. What that produces is the companion who can go with anybody, and a difficulty that follows from the same fact. What follows is what it masters and what it empties, the four padas including the junction degrees, career, money, detachment, health and practices.
Ketu in Revati sits entirely within Pisces, so the Ketu in Pisces reading gives the sign-level terrain and this page sharpens it to the star. The star’s own reference for any planet placed here lives at the Revati nakshatra guide.

Confirm the placement before reading, and late-degree births especially, since this star closes at the seam where the zodiac ends and begins again. The checker returns Ketu’s exact nakshatra and pada from the Swiss Ephemeris along with every other graha, and flags a planet close enough to a boundary that birth-time error could move it. Note that this site uses the mean node throughout, and that Ketu always sits exactly opposite Rahu.

On reading Ketu
Ketu is not read the way the seven grahas are, and stating why makes this page usable rather than mystifying.
It has no physical body. Rahu and Ketu are the two points where the Moon’s path crosses the Sun’s, which is why they are always exactly opposite and why they move backward through the zodiac permanently. The tradition calls them chhaya grahas, shadow planets, and depicts them as the two halves of a severed asura, Rahu the head and Ketu the trunk.
Like Rahu, Ketu has no nature of its own and takes the character of the planet ruling the sign it occupies. What it does with that character is the opposite. Rahu enlarges what it finds, and Ketu concentrates it and then withdraws, which produces the pattern the tradition calls mastery without appetite.
On exaltation the texts disagree, with Scorpio, Sagittarius and Taurus each supported by a substantial tradition, so this site reads sign placement through the dispositor instead. On Kaal Sarp, that is a whole-chart condition, set out properly in the Kaal Sarp Dosha complete guide.
The star through Ketu
Pushan is a solar deity of the pastoral kind. He knows the roads, keeps the herds, finds what has been lost and travels with those who are going somewhere. In the funeral hymns he is the one who escorts the departed along a road they have not walked before, and what he does throughout is accompany rather than arrive.
The tradition adds one detail about him. At Daksha’s sacrifice he lost his teeth, and afterwards eats only what has been softened.
That detail belongs to this graha more exactly than to any other, and it is worth stating on the last page of a series about it. Pushan’s capacity to receive was reduced and his capacity to serve was not. He guides exactly as well as before. What the injury took was the taking.
Mercury rules the mansion, adding mobility, and Jupiter holds the sign as dispositor.
Put Ketu here and the result is a companion. This placement can go with somebody through anything, a decline, a departure, a move, a collapse, because it wants nothing from the journey and is not trying to reach anywhere itself.
The Ketu in Revati nature
| Span | 16°40′ to 30°00′ Pisces | Star lord | Mercury |
| Dispositor | Jupiter, so Ketu concentrates and releases compassion | Deity | Pushan, the nourisher and guide |
| Symbol | The fish, the drum | Signature | Kind, accompanying, undirected |
Capacity to accompany is the first signature and it is the finest in the cluster. Somebody going through the worst passage of their life can be gone with here, all the way, without being hurried, improved or managed, because nothing in this placement needs the passage to end.
Kindness without calculation is the second, from Pushan and Jupiter together. Help is given easily and to whoever is in front of you, with a particular readiness toward the lost, the displaced and the ones nobody else has time for.
Orientation is the third. This placement knows where things are and where people are in a process, finds what has been mislaid in both the literal and the larger sense, and is the person others come to when they no longer know what they are doing.
The strains follow the road. The borrowed direction comes first and it is the central work, since accompanying is complete here and self-directed movement is not. Wherever this placement has gone, it went with somebody. Countries, careers, houses and decades all took their shape from whoever was being walked alongside, and the person has been many places and has not once gone anywhere on their own account. Its correction is the own journey, one thing undertaken that is going somewhere you chose, since the accompanying will always be available and the choosing has to be manufactured.
The stilled life is second, which follows directly, since when there is nobody to accompany there is no motion at all, answered by one commitment held with a date attached.
The unkept map is third, from Mercury released, where the guidance given is not retained for yourself, answered by the direction written down alongside the one you gave. And the gandanta is fourth, described with the fourth pada.
What it masters, what it empties
Ketu concentrates a thing and then withdraws from it, and both halves are the placement rather than one being a fault in the other.
What it masters here is the last stretch of somebody else’s road. This placement is genuinely good at the part that other people cannot manage, the decline, the departure, the passage with no fixing available.
It masters finding as well, since Pushan’s office includes what has been lost, and this placement locates people who have gone astray in every sense of the phrase.
What it empties is the destination. Nothing here is going anywhere in particular, so the direction of a whole life is set by whoever needed accompanying at the time.
It empties the receiving too, so the guiding is complete and what comes back is not taken in.
The corrective is Pushan’s own injury, read the way the tradition tells it. He lost his teeth and continued as guide of the roads, which means the loss fell on his taking and not on his giving, and the office was undiminished. That is an accurate description of this graha and a poor description of a life. A person is not only an office. What was reduced here still has to be fed by somebody, and since it will not ask, it has to be arranged. Natives running a Ketu mahadasha feel both halves at full strength, and timing belongs to the dashas rather than to the placement alone.
Male and female charts
Ketu in Revati in a man’s chart
The pattern usually shows as a kind, unhurried man who has been alongside several people through the hardest stretches of their lives, often in care work, medicine, teaching or a quietly held role, and whose own movements were all decided by somebody else’s need. He goes with people. His watches are the countries and careers that took their shape from whoever he was walking beside, and the stillness that arrives when nobody needs accompanying. His corrections are one thing undertaken that is going somewhere he chose, and the direction written down for himself as well as given.
Ketu in Revati in a female chart
The same capacity to accompany appears, and the borrowed direction is more likely to have been assumed on her behalf, since a woman available to go alongside is rarely asked whether she was going anywhere herself. Her presence through a bad passage is worth more than most help offered. Her watches are the same undirected movement, and the receiving that does not happen because nothing in her asks for it. This page’s position is that a journey of her own is not a withdrawal from the people she walks with. Her corrections are the chosen undertaking with a date on it, and one thing arranged that feeds her rather than somebody else.
The four padas of Ketu in Revati
Jupiter is the dispositor throughout, each quarter is further read by the ruler of its navamsa, and the great junction closes the fourth. The navamsa calculator renders the full chart.
Pada 1: 16°40′ to 20°00′ Pisces, Sagittarius navamsa
The principled quarter. Jupiter rules the navamsa as well as the sign, so its character runs at both levels, giving the accompanying a framework and a purpose. Strong for teaching, chaplaincy and advisory work. The watch is the principle offered where presence was what was needed, and the correction is the silence held instead.
Pada 2: 20°00′ to 23°20′ Pisces, Capricorn navamsa
The structural quarter. Saturn rules the navamsa, so patience and organisation attach to the compassion, which makes this the pada most able to build something lasting rather than only to accompany. Strong for administration in care settings and the long institutional roles, and this page’s correction comes most easily here. The watch is the recognition that arrives late, and the correction is the contribution stated plainly.
Pada 3: 23°20′ to 26°40′ Pisces, Aquarius navamsa
The systemic quarter, with Saturn’s other sign in the navamsa. The accompanying turns toward groups and the displaced rather than individuals, which suits refugee work, diaspora organisations and technology used in service. The watch is the position permanently at one remove from every group served, and the correction is one arrangement genuinely joined.
Pada 4: 26°40′ to 30°00′ Pisces, Pisces navamsa
The gentlest and least bounded quarter, vargottama in Pisces with Jupiter ruling both charts. Compassion and dissolution run at their fullest with nothing supplying an edge, which makes this the most contemplative position in the star and the least practical, well suited to hospice, pastoral and end-of-life work.
These same degrees close the zodiac itself, at the seam where Revati meets Ashwini, which is the deepest of the junctions and the one this graha has a particular relation to, since a node is a crossing and this is the great crossing. The protocol applies with care. Verification comes first, through the checker above and, where the boundary is close, through proper birth time rectification, since a small time error moves the placement from the end of the zodiac to its beginning. Confirmed, a Ketu in these degrees reads as a life that begins in disorientation and matures into unusual gentleness and reach, and any shanti custom a family keeps is kept as a blessing rather than as protection against anything feared. This site does not read a junction placement as a misfortune and does not predict harm from one.
Career and work
Going with somebody who cannot go alone is the organising principle, so end-of-life work leads, in hospice, palliative care and bereavement services, which is Pushan’s own office and where this placement’s steadiness is a professional qualification.
Care work follows in its long forms, with the displaced, the elderly and the chronically unwell, where nothing is being fixed and somebody has to remain.
Guiding, translation and interpreting belong to the deity directly, since carrying somebody across a boundary is exactly his function, and the third pada extends this to refugee and diaspora work.
Animal work belongs to the herds, in veterinary practice and welfare, and teaching suits the first pada. The filter is the passage, this Ketu performs where somebody is being got from one place to another and is wasted on work that is only transactional.
Money
The financial pattern is modest and unplanned, since this placement does not organise a life around money and has generally arranged it around somebody else’s circumstances instead.
The leaks follow the borrowed direction. The unchosen position is the first and the largest, where work, location and income were all determined by whoever needed accompanying, so nothing was ever selected on its own merits, and the correction is one decision taken on your own account, which is the same discipline this page prescribes throughout applied to a practical matter.
Unlimited giving is second, from Jupiter under this graha, answered by a stated annual figure. And absent provision is third, from a life that has moved with other people’s needs, answered by arrangements made automatic so they survive the next move.
Detachment
Ketu is the graha of release, so this series states plainly what each placement tends to withdraw from, on the principle that a named pattern is easier to work with than an unnamed one.
The detachment here is from having somewhere to get to, and it is the last of the twenty-seven and among the gentlest.
The advantage is large and worth stating first. A person with no destination of their own can go with anybody, at their pace, for as long as it takes, without impatience and without needing the journey to conclude. That is the rarest form of companionship and it is why this placement is sent for when things are at their worst.
The cost is that all the movement is somebody else’s. Look back over a life here and every relocation, every change of work and every long stretch was shaped by a person who needed accompanying, and none of it was chosen. This is not regret, since the accompanying was worth doing and the person does not experience it as a loss, which is precisely why it goes uncorrected for decades.
The correction is one journey of your own, and modest is fine. A course, a place you go because you wanted to see it, a piece of work with your name on it and a date attached. What matters is not the scale but that the direction came from you, since the accompanying will always be available and the choosing never presents itself.
The other half is Pushan’s own. His injury fell on what he could take in, not on what he could give, and this placement is the same, so the receiving has to be arranged deliberately rather than waited for. Nothing here will ask.
Health
Ketu is associated with conditions that are sudden, obscure or resistant to diagnosis, and with amplifying whatever the rest of the chart already indicates rather than with an organ of its own. Revati’s territory in the nakshatra purusha is the feet, and Pisces governs the feet as well, which doubles that emphasis.
The feet therefore come first without qualification, and the practical items are footwear, arch and ankle support, circulation in the lower limbs and prompt attention to anything that changes the gait.
Nutrition deserves a specific note here, since Pushan takes only what has been softened and this placement’s own intake is genuinely the thing that goes unattended while everybody else is fed. Where eating has become irregular or insufficient, that belongs with a doctor rather than with any plan found elsewhere, and this site offers no dietary guidance for that reason.
The absorbing load is real and never counted as work, so time alone restores what time in company does not and has to be scheduled. Where a complaint has resisted explanation, a second opinion is worth more than persistence with the first. On anything symptomatic, doctors lead and the chart follows, always.
Practices that suit this Ketu
Tuesday is Ketu’s day in common practice, and the standing observance is the salutation Om Ketave Namah, with Ganesha the customary devotional focus for this graha, so Om Gam Ganapataye Namah suits a household that keeps it. Wednesday suits the Mercury lordship of this star and Thursday the Jupiter dispositor.
The star’s salutation is Om Pushne Namah, and the seva that fits is his exactly, the feeding and care of animals, help given to travellers and to people who no longer know what to do next, and support for anyone at the end of a road. For this graha, whose own charity is quiet and unattributed, the two coincide entirely.
Contemplative practice belongs here and is unusually available, particularly in the fourth pada, and it is worth keeping with a stated beginning and end since nothing internal marks where things stop.
Two disciplines carry the page’s teaching. The own journey comes first and matters most, one undertaking that is going somewhere you chose, with a date on it, however small, since accompanying is complete in this placement and self-directed movement is not, and the choosing will never present itself the way a request for company does. And the arranged receiving comes second, one thing set up deliberately that feeds you rather than somebody else, because Pushan’s loss fell on his taking and left his giving whole, and what was reduced still has to be provided for by somebody, and nothing here will ask.
Questions people ask
Is Ketu in Revati good?
It is among the gentlest placements in this series. Jupiter is the dispositor and Mercury rules the star, so Ketu concentrates compassion and mobility and releases the appetite attached, in the mansion of the guide. It gives the finest capacity to accompany in this cluster, kindness without calculation and a good sense of where people are. Its strain is that all the direction came from somebody else. The whole chart, the dispositor’s condition and the running dashas decide the delivery.
Why has my life been shaped entirely by other people?
Because accompanying is complete in this placement and choosing a direction is not. Nothing here is going anywhere in particular, so the shape gets supplied by whoever needed you at the time. The correction is one undertaking with a direction you chose, and the scale does not matter.
Is Ketu in Revati gandanta a problem?
Only the closing degrees touch the seam where the zodiac ends and begins again, which is the deepest of the junctions. The protocol is verification first, since a small birth-time error moves the placement from the end of the circle to its start. Confirmed, it reads as a life that begins in disorientation and matures into gentleness and reach, and any family shanti custom is kept as a blessing rather than as a defence. This site does not read a junction placement as a misfortune.
Which pada of Ketu in Revati is strongest?
The question works differently for Ketu, since each quarter changes which character is being released. Pada 1 doubles Jupiter and supplies a framework, pada 2 adds Saturn and can build something lasting, pada 3 adds Saturn’s other sign and serves groups, and pada 4 is vargottama in Pisces, the gentlest, and carries the junction degrees.
Does Ketu in Revati mean Kaal Sarp?
No. Kaal Sarp concerns the arrangement of every planet in relation to the nodal axis and is a whole-chart condition, so no nakshatra placement establishes it. The Kaal Sarp Dosha complete guide sets out how it is actually assessed.
What careers suit Ketu in Revati?
Hospice, palliative and bereavement work, long-form care with the elderly, displaced or chronically unwell, guiding, translation and interpreting, refugee and diaspora work for the third pada, veterinary and animal welfare practice, and teaching for the first.
What remedies suit Ketu in Revati?
Tuesday observance with Wednesday and Thursday as natural seconds, the salutations Om Ketave Namah and Om Pushne Namah, and Ganesha worship where a household keeps it. The seva that fits is Pushan’s own, the care of animals and help to travellers and to anyone at the end of a road. The most useful discipline is unritual, one undertaking going somewhere you chose. Gemstones follow the whole chart’s need and never a single placement, and cat’s eye in particular is never worn on a one-line rule.
