Marriage analysis in Vedic astrology operates on two separate tracks: timing and compatibility. Timing addresses when marriage will occur. Compatibility addresses whether a specific match will work. Both require different techniques. Both matter equally.

The 7th house governs marriage and partnerships. Its lord, occupants, and aspects reveal the nature of married life. Venus acts as karaka (significator) for men. Jupiter acts as karaka for women. But reading these placements correctly requires examining the Navamsa (D9) chart, which specifically governs marriage and dharma.

Vivah Muhurat: Selecting Auspicious Wedding Dates

Muhurat selection extends far beyond picking a date from a generic online list. Proper muhurat analysis involves checking Panchang factors (Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana), avoiding blocked periods (Khar Maas, Adhik Maas, Chaturmas), verifying planetary combustion status, and identifying Lagna windows that protect the 7th and 8th houses.

The wedding moment creates a birth chart for the marriage itself. A poorly timed wedding can amplify problems that might otherwise remain dormant. A properly timed one provides structural support during difficult transits later in life.

Generic muhurat calendars check one or two factors and call a date “auspicious.” Real muhurat evaluation treats the wedding as a new birth requiring the same care as natal chart analysis.

Marriage Timing: When Will It Happen?
