A valid horary requires genuine urge:

The question must arise from real life concern, not idle curiosity.

The querent must truly want to know the answer.

The matter must be currently relevant, not hypothetical.

The first sincere asking produces the valid chart; subsequent repeats do not.

Without genuine urge, the chart may not accurately reflect the situation.

Moon as Validator

The Moon’s condition helps validate the chart:

Moon’s nakshatra lord: Should ideally connect to houses relevant to the question. If asking about marriage and Moon’s Star Lord signifies 7th house, the question is genuine.

Moon’s house position: If Moon is in a house related to the question topic, good connection exists.

Moon’s aspects: Moon applying to planets relevant to the question supports validity.

Severe Moon affliction may indicate confused or premature questioning.

Ruling Planets Verification

Ruling Planets at the question moment provide validation:

Calculate Ruling Planets for the moment the astrologer receives the question.

If Ruling Planets connect to houses relevant to the question, the chart is validated.

Example: For a career question, if Ruling Planets include significators of the 10th house, the question timing is appropriate.

Lack of connection between Ruling Planets and question topic may indicate premature or invalid asking.

Ascendant and Question Match

The Ascendant Sub-Lord’s significations should relate to the question:

If asking about health and the Ascendant Sub-Lord signifies 6th or 8th house, appropriate connection exists.

If asking about marriage but the Ascendant Sub-Lord shows no 7th house connection, the chart may not address the question properly.

Strong mismatch may indicate the real concern differs from the stated question.

Void of Course Moon

When Moon makes no major aspects before changing sign:

Traditional interpretation: Nothing will come of the matter.

KP interpretation: Less emphasis on void Moon, but note it as caution.

Practical approach: If void Moon combines with other validation problems, consider the chart questionable.

Early or Late Ascendant Degrees

Traditional horary notes:

Very early Ascendant (0-3 degrees): May indicate the matter is too new or the question premature.

Very late Ascendant (27-30 degrees): May indicate the matter is already decided or the question is too late.

KP practice emphasizes Sub-Lord analysis over degree-based rules, but these observations can provide supplementary caution.

Repeated Questions

When questions are repeated:

Only the first sincere asking is valid.

Subsequent charts for the same question, hoping for different answers, are not reliable.

If circumstances genuinely change, a new question may be valid, but this should be rare.

If a querent has asked multiple astrologers the same question, the first asking remains the valid chart.

Testing Questions

Questions asked to “test” astrology or the astrologer:

These lack genuine urge about the outcome.

The chart may not produce accurate results.

Experienced astrologers can sometimes sense testing intent.

If testing is suspected, the practitioner may decline to analyze.

Multiple Questions

When multiple questions are bundled together:

Each question should have its own chart and number.

A chart for “Will I get married AND get a job AND buy a house?” cannot address all clearly.
