Ketu in Rohini means Ketu was placed between 10 degrees and 23 degrees 20 minutes of Taurus at your birth, in the fourth nakshatra, ruled by the Moon and presided over by Brahma, the creator. Taurus belongs to Venus, so the character being concentrated and then released is desire, taste and material sense. Rohini is the mansion of growth, beauty and abundance, the star the Moon itself is said to have preferred above the other twenty-six, which makes it the most desirable ground in the zodiac. Put there the graha that removes appetite and the arrangement states itself, since everything worth wanting is present and the wanting is not. What follows is what it masters and what it empties, the four padas, career, money, detachment, health and practices.
Ketu in Rohini sits entirely within Taurus, so the Ketu in Taurus reading gives the sign-level terrain and this page sharpens it to the star. The star’s own reference for any planet placed here lives at the Rohini nakshatra guide.

Confirm the placement before reading. The checker returns Ketu’s exact nakshatra and pada from the Swiss Ephemeris along with every other graha, and flags a planet close enough to a boundary that birth-time error could move it. Note that this site uses the mean node throughout, and that Ketu always sits exactly opposite Rahu.

On reading Ketu
Ketu is not read the way the seven grahas are, and stating why makes this page usable rather than mystifying.
It has no physical body. Rahu and Ketu are the two points where the Moon’s path crosses the Sun’s, which is why they are always exactly opposite and why they move backward through the zodiac permanently. The tradition calls them chhaya grahas, shadow planets, and depicts them as the two halves of a severed asura, Rahu the head and Ketu the trunk.
Like Rahu, Ketu has no nature of its own and takes the character of the planet ruling the sign it occupies. What it does with that character is the opposite. Rahu enlarges what it finds, and Ketu concentrates it and then withdraws, which produces the pattern the tradition calls mastery without appetite. The classical dictum also holds that Ketu behaves like Mars.
On exaltation the texts disagree, with Scorpio, Sagittarius and Taurus each supported by a substantial tradition, and this star sits in the middle of Taurus, so you may find the placement described as exalted elsewhere. This site does not treat the question as settled and reads sign placement through the dispositor instead. On Kaal Sarp, that is a whole-chart condition, set out properly in the Kaal Sarp Dosha complete guide.
The star through Ketu
Rohini means the red one and also the growing one. Its symbols are agricultural and prosperous, the ox cart carrying goods to market, the red cow, the banyan spreading, and its deity is Brahma, in whose mansion forms come into being. The tradition adds that the Moon preferred this star above his other wives, which tells you plainly what kind of ground it is.
Venus holds the sign as dispositor and the Moon rules the star, so the characters being worked on are desire and attachment, which are precisely the two things this graha removes.
Now the arrangement, which is the reverse of what the same mansion produces for this graha’s opposite half. Rahu here is enormous wanting that cannot be satisfied. Ketu here is the full presence of everything worth wanting, and no wanting.
What that produces first is real capability. Rohini’s gifts are creative and material, the eye for what is good, the hand that makes things grow, the instinct for value, and Ketu concentrates them so they arrive complete and without training.
What it produces second is that none of it is pursued, and the two facts together are what this page is about.
The Ketu in Rohini nature
| Span | 10°00′ to 23°20′ Taurus | Star lord | Moon |
| Dispositor | Venus, so Ketu concentrates and releases desire | Deity | Brahma, the creator |
| Symbol | The ox cart, the banyan | Signature | Capable, tasteful, unpossessive |
Natural taste is the first signature. This placement knows what is good without having studied it, in objects, materials, food or design, and the judgement is reliable enough that other people use it to make their own decisions.
Productive capability is the second, from Brahma and the sign. Things get made and grown here, and they turn out well, since the hand is competent and the eye is accurate.
Ease with people is the third, from Venus. There is warmth here and it is genuine, though it does not come with the intensity most people associate with warmth.
The strains follow the absent appetite. The unused gift comes first and it is the central work, since a talent that arrives without effort also arrives without the hunger that would ordinarily develop it. Nothing pushes this placement to practise, exhibit, sell or improve, so a real capability sits at the level it arrived at, and the person is genuinely puzzled that anybody thinks this is a waste. Its correction is the practised gift, using the capability on a stated schedule rather than when moved, since being moved is exactly what will not happen and a timetable does what motivation does for other people.
The unattached bond is second, from the Moon subtracted, and it needs stating carefully. The relationships are real and the clinging is not, so this placement holds a marriage, a family or a friendship steadily and without the intensity that the people in it are looking for, and they read the absence as coldness or as a lack of love. It is neither. Its correction is the stated commitment, saying out loud what you would not think to say because it seems obvious to you, since the reassurance others need is not supplied by your reliability alone.
The released possession is third, from Taurus under this graha, where things of value are given away or let go without the hesitation anyone else would feel, answered by a stated waiting period. And Brahma’s own detachment is fourth, where what is made is not kept track of, answered by a record of what you have actually produced.
What it masters, what it empties
Ketu concentrates a thing and then withdraws from it, and both halves are the placement rather than one being a fault in the other.
What it masters here is value. This placement can tell what a thing is worth, materially and aesthetically, and it can generally make something worth having, which is two separate competences and both are present.
It masters steadiness in relationships as well, since a bond held without clinging survives storms that intense ones do not.
What it empties is acquisitiveness. Nothing much is wanted, kept or displayed, and the ordinary machinery of building a life around possessions simply does not engage.
It empties the demonstration of attachment too, which is where most of the difficulty with other people originates, since the feeling is present and the signalling that would prove it is absent.
The corrective is Brahma’s own position rather than a rule about caring more. He makes and does not preside over what he has made, and the tradition is clear that his worship is almost nowhere, which is the shape of this placement exactly. What it needs is not attachment but continuation, staying with what it made rather than owning it. Natives running a Ketu mahadasha feel both halves at full strength, and timing belongs to the dashas rather than to the placement alone.
Male and female charts
Ketu in Rohini in a man’s chart
The pattern usually shows as a capable, easy-mannered man with genuine taste and no particular interest in using it, often working below his ability in a field he could have led, and steady in his relationships without being demonstrative. He does not chase. His watches are the talent that stays at the level it arrived at, and the bond that is real and does not read as real to the person in it. His corrections are the capability practised on a schedule, and the commitment said out loud rather than assumed.
Ketu in Rohini in a female chart
The same taste and capability appear, and the absence of demonstrated attachment is judged considerably more harshly in her, since a woman who is steady rather than effusive is read as withholding. Her judgement about quality is sound and frequently relied on. Her watches are the same unused gift, which others may describe approvingly as modesty while it costs her the position her ability warranted, and the same undemonstrated bond. This page’s position is that the reassurance others need is a separate act from the loyalty she already provides. Her corrections are the schedule kept, and the thing said aloud that seems too obvious to say.
The four padas of Ketu in Rohini
Venus is the dispositor throughout, and each quarter is further read by the ruler of its navamsa, which is the secondary character being concentrated and released. The navamsa calculator renders the full chart.
Pada 1: 10°00′ to 13°20′ Taurus, Aries navamsa
The active quarter. Mars rules the navamsa and the graha already shares that manner, so initiative attaches to the capability, producing the pada most likely to actually do something with it. Strong for enterprise, the crafts and physically demanding work. The watch is the sudden decision to abandon a good position, and the correction is a stated notice period applied to yourself.
Pada 2: 13°20′ to 16°40′ Taurus, Taurus navamsa
The most concentrated quarter, and vargottama, Taurus in both charts, so Venus is the character at both levels with nothing to dilute the subtraction. Taste, material sense and physical steadiness run at their fullest, and so does the absence of appetite attached to them. This is the pada where the gift is largest and the drive smallest. The watch is this page’s central difficulty at its strongest, and the correction is the schedule taken most seriously here.
Pada 3: 16°40′ to 20°00′ Taurus, Gemini navamsa
The articulate quarter. Mercury rules the navamsa, so speech and analysis attach to the taste, which makes this the pada that can explain what it knows and teach or sell it. Strong for criticism, appraisal, trade and design commentary. The watch is the judgement given away in conversation and never charged for, and the correction is deciding which conversations are professional.
Pada 4: 20°00′ to 23°20′ Taurus, Cancer navamsa
The domestic quarter. The Moon rules the navamsa as well as the star, so the lunar character is doubled and then subtracted, which puts this page’s second difficulty at its strongest, since attachment is the very thing being released at two levels. What it genuinely supplies is a rare steadiness in family life, unshaken by the ordinary turbulence. The watch is the household that experiences that steadiness as distance, and the correction is the stated commitment, which matters more in this quarter than anywhere else in the star.
Career and work
Recognising and making what is good is the organising principle, so the material crafts lead, woodwork, ceramics, textiles, jewellery and the trades where the hand and the eye are the qualification.
Food and agriculture belong to Rohini’s own subject, and this placement grows things and cooks well without having been taught properly.
Appraisal and valuation suit the combination directly, since the work is judging what a thing is worth and this placement does that accurately without wanting the thing.
Design and the aesthetic trades suit Venus, criticism suits the third pada, and land or property work suits the sign. The filter is quality, this Ketu performs where something is being made or judged well and disengages entirely from work that is only about scale.
Money
The financial pattern is comfortable and unambitious, since the sign supplies competence with material things and the graha removes the wish to accumulate them.
The leaks follow the release. The given-away asset is the first, where something of real value is handed on because holding it seemed unnecessary, and the correction is a stated waiting period before anything substantial is released, since the impulse arrives faster here than the assessment.
The unmonetised gift is second, which is this page’s central difficulty in financial form, where a genuine capability produces no income because nothing pushes it to market, answered by the schedule this page prescribes. And undercharging is third, since a skill that arrived without effort does not feel billable, answered by pricing against the market.
Detachment
Ketu is the graha of release, so this series states plainly what each placement tends to withdraw from, on the principle that a named pattern is easier to work with than an unnamed one.
The detachment here is from possession, in both the material and the personal sense, and it is unusually complete because the star and the sign both concern holding on and the graha removes exactly that.
Materially it looks like indifference to owning. Good things are appreciated accurately and not acquired, what is owned is not displayed, and things are given away with an ease that alarms people who would have thought about it for weeks. There is nothing ascetic in this. The person simply does not experience possession as adding anything.
Personally it is the more consequential half. The bonds are genuine and the possessiveness is absent, so this placement does not check, does not resent time apart, and does not perform reassurance, which people in intimate relationships frequently experience as not being loved. The steadiness is real and invisible, and the intensity that would have made it visible is not there to be summoned.
What helps is treating reassurance as an act rather than a feeling. Saying the thing, marking the occasion and making the gesture are all available to somebody who does not feel the need for them, and doing them deliberately supplies what the other person is actually missing without requiring you to feel differently.
Health
Ketu is associated with conditions that are sudden, obscure or resistant to diagnosis, and with amplifying whatever the rest of the chart already indicates rather than with an organ of its own. Rohini’s territory in the nakshatra purusha is the legs, and Taurus governs the throat and neck.
The throat comes first from the sign, which makes thyroid function worth including in routine bloodwork rather than waiting for a symptom.
The legs belong to the star’s own region and reward movement in a life that is otherwise settled and comfortable.
The practical note is that a person with little attachment to their own comfort tends not to report symptoms and tends not to seek care early, so scheduled screening matters here more than reactive treatment. Where a complaint has resisted explanation, a second opinion is worth more than persistence with the first, and this graha’s association with the undiagnosed makes that worth acting on rather than tolerating. On anything symptomatic, doctors lead and the chart follows, always.
Practices that suit this Ketu
Tuesday is Ketu’s day in common practice, and the standing observance is the salutation Om Ketave Namah, with Ganesha the customary devotional focus for this graha, so Om Gam Ganapataye Namah suits a household that keeps it. Monday suits the Moon’s lordship of this star and Friday the Venus dispositor, where the family tradition holds either.
Brahma has little popular worship, so the salutation Om Brahmane Namah is kept simply, and his practical teaching here is making without owning, which this placement already does and need only continue rather than abandon.
The seva associated with Ketu is the giving of food and support without the giver being known, which this placement performs naturally and should therefore pair with the harder discipline rather than treat as sufficient.
Two disciplines carry the page’s teaching. The practised gift comes first and matters most, the capability used on a stated schedule rather than when the mood arrives, since a talent that came without effort came without the hunger that would develop it, and a timetable supplies what motivation supplies for everybody else. And the stated commitment comes second, the loyalty said out loud rather than left to be inferred, because the reassurance the people close to you need is a separate act from the steadiness you already provide, and it will not occur to you to offer it.
Questions people ask
Is Ketu in Rohini bad?
The question fits this graha poorly. Venus is the dispositor and the Moon rules the star, so Ketu concentrates taste and attachment and then releases both, in the most abundant mansion in the zodiac. It gives natural taste, real productive capability and steadiness in relationships. Its strain is a genuine gift that nothing pushes it to use. The whole chart, the dispositor’s condition and the running dashas decide the delivery.
Is Ketu exalted in Rohini?
You will see it described that way, since one tradition places Ketu’s exaltation in Taurus and this star sits in the middle of that sign. Others place it in Scorpio or Sagittarius, the texts do not agree, and this site reads sign placement through the dispositor instead, which here is Venus.
Does this mean problems in marriage?
No, and this site does not read any placement as a verdict on a relationship. What the combination produces is a bond held without possessiveness, which is steady and does not look intense, and the practical issue is that the people in it may need reassurance the placement does not think to give. That is addressable by saying the thing rather than by feeling differently.
Which pada of Ketu in Rohini is strongest?
The question works differently for Ketu, since each quarter changes which character is being released. Pada 1 adds Mars and acts, pada 2 is vargottama in Taurus with Venus doubled and has the largest gift and the least drive, pada 3 adds Mercury and can explain itself, and pada 4 doubles the Moon and is the most domestic.
Does Ketu in Rohini mean Kaal Sarp?
No. Kaal Sarp concerns the arrangement of every planet in relation to the nodal axis and is a whole-chart condition, so no nakshatra placement establishes it. The Kaal Sarp Dosha complete guide sets out how it is actually assessed.
What careers suit Ketu in Rohini?
The material crafts including woodwork, ceramics, textiles and jewellery, food and agriculture, appraisal and valuation, design and the aesthetic trades, criticism for the third pada, and land or property work.
What remedies suit Ketu in Rohini?
Tuesday observance with Monday and Friday as natural seconds, the salutations Om Ketave Namah and Om Brahmane Namah, and Ganesha worship where a household keeps it. The seva that fits is support given anonymously. The most useful discipline is unritual, using the capability on a schedule rather than waiting to feel like it. Gemstones follow the whole chart’s need and never a single placement, and cat’s eye in particular is never worn on a one-line rule.
